A group show curated by Cindy KellyKings, Hummingbirds, & Monsters featured 20 original works by artists invited to create books inspired by the Evergreen House Museum’s extensive library of rare books and manuscripts. Peter Bruun selected an illuminated manuscript and book of French kings (complete with 64 engraved portrait prints and not one identifying name) as points of departure for a 128-page handmade book made of calfskin vellum, egg tempera, gold leaf, and reproductions of the anonymous French king portraits. The goal: evoke the memory of each king in spirit if not in name.
