Racing with a Past

An exhibition at The Park School of Baltimore organized by Peter Bruun during his tenure as Exhibition Educator at the school. The exhibition featured works by Park School students alongside paintings by Michael Ray Charles and Harlem Renaissance artist Palmer Hayden.

Racing with a Past explored ethnic, racial, religious, and sexual orientation identities. Student works included a "closet" created by the Gay/Straight Alliance, art by History students about Japanese internement camps in World War II, and art by students studying the literature of the Harlem Renaissance. A highlight was a day of interaction with artists Michael Ray Charles, David DiaoJoyce Scott, and Charles McGill.
