An exhibition at The Park School of Baltimore organized by Peter Bruun during his tenure as Exhibition Educator at the school, Metaphor featured paintings by Hermine Ford and dozens of pieces from Park students across disciplines.

Untitled (113-030) from 2001 may be seen as either an abstraction or concrete representation. Metaphor explored the relationship between abstract and concrete thought. Ford was selected as the featured artist because of her work’s ability to be perceived as meaningful on both planes: representations of simple beach stones at the concrete level, or as fanciful and idiosyncratic abstract shapes on the other.
