About the venues

  • Puddle Dock Village School

Built around 1874, the Puddle Dock Village School was one of six original one-room schoolhouses in Alna, only three of which remain. The design is typical of the period, with an open floor plan and separate entrances for boys and girls. The school was used for its original purpose until 1962, and it then served as the Alna Town Office until 1998. Today, its preservation is supported by the Fund to Support Historic Alna.

  • Alna Meetinghouse

    Google Maps

Located a mile and a half from the Puddle Dock Village School, the Alna Meetinghouse was built in 1789, and incorporated in 1796 as a Congregational church. The building is one of the finest examples of a traditional New England meetinghouse in the state of Maine and regular church services were held here until 1876. Used today for meetings, concerts, and other public gatherings, the venue is preserved with support from the Fund to Support Historic Alna and managed by the Town of Alna.

Hosting exhibitions, discussions, workshops, music performances, and more, the space is also available for yoga, qi gong, tai chi and other practices that support health and well-being.
