About the artist
Phylicia Ghee is a Baltimore-based interdisciplinary artist whose work explores healing and shares the value of grounding and centering rituals to personal well-being.
For this exhibition she presents Intrepid III, a 15-minute video of a ritual performance recorded at historic Inkwell Beach on Martha’s Vineyard in August 2018, and 8:46, a piece named for the amount of time officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd’s neck. 8:46 serves as both a medicine for grief and an encouragement to breathe—a visual and sonic offering that invites reflection, restoration, and reverence.
Phylicia’s work reflects on impermanence while connecting to what endures, and draws on moments from her life, creating a montage of healing practices passed down through generations. The work speaks to protection, release, and the preservation of self, family, and culture.
