Join us for a vital discussion on how policy and community support are essential in addressing the pain and isolation of addiction. Maine State Representative Lydia Crafts (District #46), Char Corbett, Executive Director of Healthy Kids!, and Sharon Bailey, Founder of Grieving Hearts of Lincoln County, will share insights on solutions, resources, and the power of connection in recovery.

Lydia Crafts is the Maine State Representative for District #46 and a dedicated social worker in private practice. She was recognized by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) as the 2024 Social Worker of the Year.

Char Corbett is the Executive Director of Healthy Kids, a child abuse prevention and family support agency in Lincoln County. She previously served as pastor at Second Congregational Church in Newcastle, and continues part-time ministry today at Sheepscott Community Church.

Sharon Bailey, who lost her son Matthew to an overdose in 2012, is the founder of Grieving Hearts of Lincoln County, a support group for family members who have lost loved ones to substance use and related causes that meets the first Wednesday of every month in Newcastle.

Join us for an open conversation on substance use disorder, intervention, and treatment in our community. Topics include finding help in Lincoln County, the evolving role of law enforcement and other first responders, local challenges and opportunities, and the growing recognition of MAT as the standard of care. Experts Holly Stover (Maine State Representative, District #48), Nick Loscocco (OPTIONS Liaison, Lincoln County), and Lauren Hunt (Harm Reduction Program Coordinator, MaineGeneral) will be on hand to share their experiences and answer your questions.

Holly Stover is a Maine State Representative for District 48 and the Director of Operations for the Addiction Outreach Program at the Community Resource Council, with a strong focus on addressing addiction and supporting recovery in the Boothbay region.

Nick Loscocco is the OPTIONS Liaison for Lincoln County, connecting individuals with resources to support their recovery from substance use disorder. A person in long-term recovery himself, Nick uses his personal experience to offer compassionate support to others.

Lauren Hunt is the Program Coordinator for MaineGeneral Harm Reduction, working to expand services across nine counties in Maine. An aspiring Physician Assistant, she focuses on collaborative SUD care with a strong commitment to improving healthcare in rural communities.

What truly helps prevent substance use among young people? Join us for a conversation on what works—and what doesn’t—as we explore how to keep youth safe and substance-free. Experts Jonathan Barnes (Wiscasset Police, former SRO at Wiscasset Middle High School), Haley Bezon (Founder & Director, Hearty Roots), and Will Matteson (Substance Use Prevention Coordinator, Healthy Lincoln County) will be present to share insights and answer your questions.

This event is preceded by a 5:00 PM reception for Studio B’s Wiscasset Youth Art Show, sponsored by the Wiscasset Creative Alliance, with remarks at 5:30 PM.

Jonathan Barnes was born and raised in Maine and has worked in law enforcement for over 10 years. He has witnessed firsthand the devastation that substance abuse and addiction can have, both in his personal and professional life.

Haley Bezon is a mental health counselor, teacher and founder of Hearty Roots, an organization offering innovative year-round programming for youth that fuses social-emotional wellness with outdoor adventure to promote hope, esteem, and a sense of belonging.

Will Matteson is the Substance Use Prevention Coordinator at Healthy Lincoln County, where he focuses on promoting preventive strategies and educating the community on substance use issues through outreach, programs, and partnerships that support substance-free lifestyles.
